If I ask you to think of Bosch, I can pretty much guarantee that your first thought will be of a Bosch washing machine (I’m not going to go anywhere near what you might think of next). But that’s not the be all and end all of Bosch. In fact, there are a number of other Bosch appliances that, instead of washing your clothes, would do better making you breakfast.
For many of us a cup of Joe is a morning ritual come hell or high water, and perhaps somewhat surprisingly Bosch have a wide range of coffee machines. Did you know that coffee, rather than a bean, is in fact a bright red berry? What we use is the dried seed from inside. Traditionally over the years it has been associated with intellectuals and revolutionaries alike (not that you can’t be both!), while in days gone by Turkish wives were promised to be kept in coffee by their bridegrooms else they could threaten divorce. It is apparently from the brass boxes engraved “To Insure Promptness” that used to be found in some of the first coffee houses that gave us the word “tip”
If coffee’s not your thing, however, you could always use a Bosch blender to whip up a nice smoothie, which can be either sweet or savoury due to the recent popularity of so-called “green” smoothies (usually more vegetables than fruit).
There’s also the breakfast classic of toast be considered, as Bosch also has a surprisingly large range of toasters. The browning of toast is called by the Maillard reaction, a chemical reaction between an amino acid and a reducing sugar usually requiring heat. Toasters can do more than just toast these days, too; there’s Pop-Tarts and, thanks to the creation of such things as toaster bags, sandwiches and even scrambled eggs.
Come to think of it, after such a busy breakfast you might need that Bosch dishwasher after all!
