The Precision Document & Book Scanner is a ScanSnap scanning system designed for bound and delicate materials: it automatically flattens the distortion caused by page curvature in open books and magazines, and automatically crops multiple documents within a single scan.
Distortion caused by binding and page curvature is one of the most common problems when scanning books and magazines. This system automatically corrects the distortion caused by the curvature of an open book or magazine; it switches between "Better mode" (A4 portrait, 200 dpi) and "Best mode" (A6 or smaller, 300 dpi) depending on the document's length and size, balancing speed and resolution. Documents thicker than 5 mm can be scanned at sizes up to 400 x 300 mm.
